The alignment of some of the objects on the drums page is off. The first time I loaded the page, it was all out of whack, though a quick refresh of the page cleared almost everything up. The objects in question are near the middle of the page.

I tried refreshing the page a few times after the second screen cap to see if the errors went away, but they were still there.
Also, just noticed this as I was about to submit the above comment: The preview your comment button does not seem to work. It instead brings you back to the top of the page.
For reference, I’m running Firefox 2.0.0.10 on Windows Vista, if that makes any difference.
Links were no good in my first post, here they are on a different image host page:

Sorry for the triple post!
Hey,
I was wondering why when i choose drums and search it gives me guitar tabs too. are you guys working on a way to narrow it down to find JUST drum tabs?
Another question,
Are you guys going to arrange the tabs to be top rated ones at the top of the list then less and less rated as you go down?
@ Conor:
If you see band misspellings, for now just list them in the Bugs and Errors area. We’ll try to have a QA feedback line soon.
I noticed that the “RATE THIS TAB” feature is not working. This may or may not be turned on, but for now it takes you to a “page not found error”. Sorry if this was already discussed somewhere else.
not so much a problem as a suggestion, when browsing by instrument, it would be nice to have the top rated tab relate to that instrument, if im looking for drum tabs i probably am not worried about the top guitar tab being maria maria by santana haha
i recently looked into the Led Zeppelin tabs, and found a rather large bug in the search results.
typing in the band name, I got the 100’s of songs that you mentioned, but clicking “L” and scrolling down to Zeppelin, I got only 2 songs (kashmir and houses of the holy), neither of which worked.
I got this error message:
“This Guitar tab for “Houses Of Holy” is currently not available for display in the MXTabs.net pre-release site. Please check back later as we add additional songs to the pre-release version of the MXTabs.net web site.”
I’m aware you are working on this bug, but just wanted to give a heads up.
one thing about the top tabs still, when changing from the minitabs in the flash part in the middle, the top tabs do not change by category :)
o, also i dont kno why, but when i have guitar, bass or drum tab under the search bar selected, it doesnt exactly narrow it down :) it would be good to add an all (instruments) tab as well, or even an advanced search feature
@snpalavan
When you switch tabs in the middle of the page, the top tabs box won’t update. However, we have a new sticky feature that remembers your last focus (guitar/bass/drum) so we may use that info to update the top tabs.
Also, as things move along here, we’ll add some more functionality to search. For now though, we’re just trying to keep it as simple as it used to be.
Thanks for everyone’s feedback. I’ll post an article later today with some of the changes that were made live this morning as well as what’s on our plate over the next couple weeks.
When you search for Bands under the filter bass tabs, it still brings up guitar and drum tabs also. (Did not try to filter for guitar or drum tabs.)
Just noticed that if you’re using firefox with it’s built in popup blocker it completely removes all ads from the site.
I downloaded firefox and don’t have any add-ons with it. So it’s just firefox itself and I don’t have any third-party pop-up/ad blocker.
All the ads come up when I use Internet Explorer.
By the way I’m using Firefox 2.0.0.11.
While trying to add metadata I found this in the “s” section when you click a letter to browse for bands:
Band Name: S=lstrandagjarnir
Guitar tab: Rangur Ma?ur
This was the only tab for this “band”.
When I click “submit tab” it brings me back to the top of the page.
On the main page there are links to “tab explained, Submit tab, Top Tabbers.” They do not work. They just bring you back to the main page.
I noticed a few things. I tried to read over the previous comments to see if t was already posted but i didn’t, so here it is. (i am running internet explorer) once i made it to the part of the site to select the tab for the song i wanted, the “back” button on my browser would continuously reload the same page with the listed tabs. Lets just say I wanted Foreplay by Boston, I would select boston>foreplay(this page is where i would select which tab i want. If i use the “back” button here it will continuesly load the same page. This doesn’t happen on every artist but it has for quite a few of them.
Sorry that I am posting more than once post. It just makes it easier to explain everything. The second thing I found is the search. It does come back looking much nicer, by the way. The problem I found was that if the band wasn’t typed exactly as it was suppose to be it returned no results. Such as Coheed and Cambria or Coheed&Cambria both returned no results. However, Coheed & Cambria did. I was not sure if this could be resolved at all, but if it can will a key word search be more efficient?
Looking better all the time! Keep up the awesome work!
Only problem I’ve had in my hours of browsing has been that on some search/artist/tab pages the ads aren’t fitting into the page correctly. May be a browser error, but this is what happened.
Looking to the Tool tabs, I searched it and came up with 3 bands. No big deal. But I couldn’t click on the Tool link. Refresh and click. Works just fine. Next page is the tabs. and again I scroll over and am able to click and something happens. I get directed to an ad page. I hit back and try again. Refresh and it works. There were some words in the middle of the page on different spots ( I don’t remember what they were). I figured it was an ad, but I couldn’t see it. When I clicked the outline of where the ad was showed, but it was all the way to the left of the page and covered the songs.
@ Dan:
Thanks for finding this. Elliott and Andy (our programmer) just met and discussed this issue and think they have a solution so that comments will keep the commenter’s intended formatting. It’s possible this may even be fixed today.
I’m using Firefox 2.0.0.11 and Windows XP. Sorry I didn’t mention that before.
I will go look for more things and info to see what else I can get back to you guys on.
One thing I’ve noticed, and this something that was annoying on the old site, is that there are bands who are listed two or three different times under different names i.e., AFI or A Fire Inside and A Perfect Circle and A Perfect Cricle. The last one is a misspell. Should these individual bands that have two different artist entries be combined into one? If we discover more do we post them or do we email you?
Well, one thing is that it appears that some comments here have disappeared =\ unless you guys have been deleting them once the issue is fixed?
I just now posted a comment for the song “Follow You Down” tab that had 5 stars on it in The Gin Blossoms selection.
It didn’t show my enter returns. It just clumped it all into one gigantic paragraph.
http://rebirth.mxtabs.net/view/tab/124876/comment
I put a riff of my own thought of part of the tab and what it should be and it completely botched it up.
Also, why can’t we right click?
I posted a comment in the Gin Blossoms guitar tab area for the song “Follow You Down” and it came up all messed up.
It didn’t accept my Break Returns. So instead of having enters it just made a space and kept running it into one huge big pile up.
I had my own suggestion for the Tab on one area of it (the intro and end) and it messed up my tab formation.
When I surf the site using Netscape, the autofill function on my browser is set off by every page and yet there is nothing to fill in. This is the only website that it does that with.
I’m running the latest version of firefox on a windows XP machine. A couple of times i have searched for a band an on the results page the placement of an ad is messed up so that ‘link’ area is placed over the band links, thus when i try and click a name it takes me to the ad site. This is usually fixed just by refreshing the page but its slightly annoying. Also I don’t know if this has been adressed but next to the latest rebirth updates in the white box it just says ‘bad request’
I typed in “Dave Matthews Band” on the search bar and it brought me to the right page and had the link for the band but the problem is I got this after it:
A PHP Error was encountered
Severity: Notice
Message: Undefined variable: fetch_all
Filename: search/artist_list.php
Line Number: 3
^That was between the band link and the number of tabs.
Just thought I should bring that to your attention.
^In Addition
It’s been doing that with all the ones I’ve done so far.
Probably got botched up when you changed something else.
I was just running through some things and went to look at a Green Day tab and read some comments and check out some stuff…..
Went to a different tab and came across this….
An Error Was Encountered
Error Number: 126
Incorrect key file for table ‘/tmp/#sql_148f_3.MYI’; try to repair it
SELECT tc.id, tc.submitted_by_id, tc.tab_id, tc.submitted_date, tc.comment, tc.status_id, tc.last_updated, u.user_name, l.title AS status FROM tab_comment tc, user u, lookup l WHERE l.id = tc.status_id AND u.id = tc.submitted_by_id AND tc.tab_id = ‘240428′ AND tc.status_id = 702 OR tc.status_id = 704 ORDER BY tc.id ASC
Again I’m using Firefox 2.0.0.11 on Windows XP.
Refresh did not work and I don’t know what happened.
actually right now i’m having a hard time looking at any tabs
Yeah I can’t look at a tab anymore without getting an error.
The problem that Conor is having viewing the tabs with Firefox, I am also experiencing with Internet Explorer. I can not open any tabls.
Thanks,
yeah i went through a few and any tab i clicked i got an error and cannot view it
Yeah, I’m getting that same error as Conor and probably Dan:
An Error Was Encountered

SELECT tc.id, tc.submitted_by_id, tc.tab_id, tc.submitted_date, tc.comment, tc.status_id, tc.last_updated, u.user_name, l.title AS status FROM tab_comment tc, user u, lookup l WHERE l.id = tc.status_id AND u.id = tc.submitted_by_id AND tc.tab_id = ‘90686′ AND tc.status_id = 702 OR tc.status_id = 704 ORDER BY tc.id ASC
I think error 126 seems to be plaguing a large section of the site, I’ve found it under most Muse songs (bass tabs)
That’s true (Mawby) – every tab had that problem. Now its a new error:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 128 bytes) in /opt/vhosts/rebirth_01042008155202/system/database/drivers/mysql/mysql_result.php on line 168
I also saw what looked like a rogue ad (I couldn’t figure out what it was for) under an artist search page. It wasn’t aligned the same way as most ads appear. It looked like a buggy windows pop-up, if that helps any.
I’m not sure if this is an “error” per se, but I used the Forgot Password/Username function to see how it worked and it sent an email with a randomly generated string as a password. That works fine, but there was no prompt to change my password or a place on the website (that I could find) where I could change my password. Now I have to go copy that random string each time I want to visit this website.
Thanks.
Some of the alphabetized tab pages, (i.e., the listing for E pg. 18) are not showing any tabs at all.
I was thinking it was a programming issue of some sort. Maybe you guys are in the process of getting those pages more organized and it has to adjust the page first.
Using Firefox 2.0.0.11.
Bill,
Thanks for the reply. I was sure that was something that was already planned. I just wasn’t sure if there was some obscurity that was preventing this option from being seen/available.
Thanks!
I’ve also noticed that apostrophes have backslashes before them. I didn’t see any mention of this on this page, but I find it hard to believe that I’m the only one that has noticed this. For example, if a textarea says something like, “…This person’s tab is good”, it would show, “…This person\’s tab is good”. I’ve also noticed a few spots where there are three backslashes rather than just a single one. I’m not sure if this is done programmatically to make sure someone’s comment or tab doesn’t cause it an escape sequence, but it appears quite a bit (this may be the case on other special escape characters).
This was at the top of the page when I clicked on Tears Won’t Fall by Bullet for My Valentine:

Problem: Same Song multiple times (different spellings) – some show with license some do not
Example: Free Fallin – Tom Petty
One version shows up under rights from Alfred. Then there are 3 other versions that still request license.
Is there plans to “consolidate” these different versions? If not how can we help to do this. There may be some great TABBED versions that are unable to be viewed because of this. Again, I say see Free Fallin by Tom Petty for an example of this.
Anthony
I’ve also noticed that Anthony. I had brought up spelling issues with bands and song names, and was wondering what we could do to help.
My thought was get a few of us to pick a set of letters, (i.e., A-D) and go through the bands and songs and compile a list. If you or anyone else would be interested in doing this, I would also. Don’t wanna do it by myself, a little daunting (and boring to say the least.) But of course helping out the programmers just a little bit would be perfect.
After 5 minutes of use, I’m now getting 403 Forbidden errors on any page on the rebirth sub-domain. Happens both in FF2 where I’m logged in, and IE7 where I’m not.
I also noticed that in the big black box, the ad failed to load one time, leaving some coding as text (several forward and back slashes).
We are looking into this 403 outage.
Ghstman -
Thanks for the feedback. This issue is fixed with the next update (tomorrow?). The first one is a CSS issue and the second one is because the song lines on the left should be limited to 1 line (no wrapping). Stay tuned.
@snpalavan
This feature is now baked in!
@Anthony Davis
Rating tabs is now active! Rate away!
We’ll look into this, but we hadn’t noticed this issue in our internal testing. Are you sure you don’t have another blocker installed?
@ J.R.
We have the system built to reset your password, it just hasn’t been made live yet. It should be available sometime in the next month or so we think.
