By giving bands the artistic freedom they desire, indie record labels have been thriving since the dawn of Rock ‘n’ Roll, all while operating on tight budgets and distributing their music independently of major record label channels. The result? Innovative music that has thrilled millions of listeners worldwide. As a kind of ode to the independent spirit of these organizations, we would like to begin examining a handful of indie record labels, focusing specifically on their roster of bands and any guitar, bass & drum tabs associated with those bands.

Up first is the Fueled By Ramen record label. According to their website, Fueled By Ramen began in Gainsville, FL in 1996. In 1998 they teamed up with emocore band Jimmy Eat World and released an EP that put both the band and the record label on the map. By 2007, the label had opened offices in New York City and Tampa, FL, and had become one of the main players in recording topnotch punk-inspired rock and pop bands.
