Fresh on the heels of our deal with Songs Music Publishing, MXTabs.net is excited to announce yet another publisher signing, this one with Downtown Music Publishing, a recipient of a 2008 ASCAP Pop Award. Legality and Copyright of Tab
Today we were sent an interesting article from the Arizona Law Review regarding tabs online and their legal status, including why they do not fall under fair use. It also goes on to explain why, should tabs ever go to court, they would be determined to be violation of copyright. Of course, our tabs are not a violation of copyright, as we actually have licenses in place for MXTabs. Tabs Under Legal Dispute
MXTabs received a letter from an attorney today, representing the publisher for artists including AC/DC, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Eddie Money and Tom Waits. We are going to be going through any tabs that may currently be up on the site, and may be removing some tabs from these artists while they are in dispute. Anyway, we thought you should know why certain tabs may no longer be available. Per our policy, any tabs that are under dispute from a publisher are removed from the site. Read More →
